CVX Policy Manager
Central point of network control for policy and QoS management
The CVX Policy Manager provides feature-rich, network-wide network policy management for carriers and service providers looking to capitalize on wholesaling and to outsource corporate remote access (VPN).
The feature-rich CVX Policy Manager enables service providers to offer enhanced modem wholesaling and outsourced corporate remote access for a network of CVX 1800 and CVX 600 Multi-Service Access Switches.
Features
- Controls and analyzes customer behavior and network usage
- Balances data loads, allocates port usage, enforces access policies and optimizes network performance
- Supports rich port wholesale features
- Provides a single point of control for managing VPN tunnels
- Eliminates the need to dedicate a physical port to a particular user or level of service
- Provides the means to differentiate service offerings
- Facilitates ease of management by offering centralized control of the entire network
- Supports up to 300,000 concurrent ports in a dual server redundant configuration; 400,000 in a triple redundant server configuration
Other Features and Benefits Wholesale Support The CVX Policy Manager provides the network intelligence and the control necessary to regulate the varying level of calls and data traffic associated with wholesaling.
VPN Tunnel Management The CVX Policy Manager provides the tools that enable the CVX 1800 and CVX 600 Multi-Service Access Switches to tunnel secure data to ISPs and corporations. This capability enables such enhanced services as multichassis multilink PPP and Virtual Private Networks.
Dynamic Port Allocation Maintains a view of all calls and enforces ISPs' or corporations' total port quotas across the network. This ensures that an ISP/corporation best utilizes all subscribed virtual modem ports, while preventing overuse of the network.
Extended Network Control The CVX Policy Manager allows service providers to offer their clients an extension of their access to a broader customer base. By pooling information from an entire network of access switches, service providers can offer their services on a regional/global basis instead of an individual POP basis.
Highly Scalable Supports up to 300,000 concurrent ports in a dual server redundant configuration. Multiple CVX Policy Managers can be linked together to increase capacity and provide redundancy.
True Reliability A dual server implementation allows for improved reliability and efficient site disaster recovery. In the unlikely event of a failure, traffic is routed and administered through another CVX Policy Manager until the failed unit recovers. There is no single point of failure when delivered in a redundant configuration.
