Aastra SIP Phones Now Interoperate with Verizon’s Hosted IP Centrex Service
CONCORD, ON, CANADA (March 19, 2008) – Aastra Telecom, a global provider of open-standard communication products, systems and solutions, today announced that Verizon Business has certified Aastra’s award-winning line of 5xi SIP telephones based on the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) for use with its Hosted IP Centrex service offering. Adding Aastra’s SIP phones to Verizon Business’s portfolio of Voice over IP (VoIP) Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) provides new and existing Verizon Business customers with greater flexibility and choice.
All of Aastra’s open standard SIP telephones underwent stringent lab testing required by Verizon Business to meet the high performance and reliability standards for products certified for its Hosted IP Centrex platform.

Products approved for launch will include Aastra’s entire 5xi family of telephones which is highlighted by the 57i CT; Aastra’s large screen 57i telephone with a built in Cordless Telephone (CT). The 57i CT allows an end user the ability to use the CT within a 300 foot radius of the 57i CT telephone. Combining CT and IP phone technology is ideal for warehouse managers and retail workers or anywhere an in-building mobility solution is required.
The field launch of the Aastra SIP telephone family expands an ongoing CPE relationship that Aastra has developed with Verizon Business for over 15 years. Customers around the world enjoy using Aastra Digital Centrex terminals on the Verizon Business network and now those same customers can choose Aastra SIP phones as they transition to Hosted IP Centrex.
